The site I would like to redesign for this class is my own personal website. I designed the site in 2009 using iWeb. Considering all the limitations iWeb had and my lack of knowledge in creating a website, I believe the site wasn't so bad. It was successful in securing work and attaining new clients. That being said it's approaching 6 years old and needs an entire overhaul. Here is the link to my site which I would like to share and discuss and approach to redesigning the site. mattmaniaci.com
An example of a website I would consider redesigning is dashwood books. As a book collector Dashwood Books is one of the best shops in New York City to find rare and new photobooks. Using their site to search and shop could be an amazing resource to see what they've recently received and what has been newly released. Currently their site is so poorly designed I find it very difficult to navigate or explore the books, making it extremely difficult to use their site as a tool. Being passionate about books and a lover of the shop and staff, I would find great pleasure in redesigning their site.
Another site I would really enjoy helping redesign would be filmlinc.com. I worked at the Film Society of Lincoln Center for 10 years as a part-time theater manager while I simultaneously worked as a full-time graphic designer. A continual frustration throughout my 10 years there has been their poorly designed website. From the aesthetic to the navigation this site needs major work. Even though the website has gone through various iterations over the past 10 years I am still frustrated with it's looks and functionality.
